APPRENTICE

My Dearest Leyla

This has been a long year.

My mother passed away

And I could not attend her funeral.

This has been a long summer.

You ignored me.

You sent me neither a postcard nor a letter.

This has been a long month.

I received no cheque and met no client.

This has been a long week.

I went out every night

And met many lovely ladies.

None of them turned me on.

This has been a wonderful weekend.

Yesterday on my birthday,

Terrific twin sisters tranquillised me.

That was an experience of a lifetime.

Now I am no longer a master of living in pain.

I am lucky enough to be

An apprentice of living in pleasure.
