TO BE A FRIEND OF YOU

It's funny how things work out,
When you least expect them to.
And it's strange to think how life goes on,
Without ever asking you.

But in this crazy world of ours,
Where it's easy to lose your mind,
I can see that a friend like you,
Is a rare and precious find.

You're there when I need comfort,
There to see me through.
All the trials I accumulate,
The old ones and the new.

You're there to lend a shoulder,
Or a generous listening ear,
There to offer wise advice,
When I'm in doubt or fear.

When I cry out in anger,
You're there to calm my nerves,
And on this dangerous road of life,
You're the guardrail on each curve.

You catch me when I'm falling,
Hoist me up when I am down,
You're standing right beside me,
Raising the corners of my frown.

I know that I can trust you,
And reveal my every thought,
Without the fear of being judged,
You're the friend I know I'm not.

Thank you for believing in me,
Thank you for all you do,
I have always felt so blessed,
To be a friend of you.
