BIRTHDAY CAKE
Jumping out from the center of your birthday cake
Is a tired, sentimental troubadour.
He'll laugh with you
And sometimes fly with you
If you don't ask for anything more.
He's an unknown quantity
A knightly apparition.
A foundation
A lover
Hear him roar!
But all he can offer is a
Warm hand to hold.
For his heart stopped beating years ago.
But time has a way of bringing feelings back to life.
And through our misadventures, our victories, and our strife.
We'll stay real close and build a world
Especially for us.
Using friendship as our building blocks
And cement, for walls of trust.
So keep your eyes
On the ever, changing road ahead.
Never look behind you
Take heed in what I've said.
I can't imagine life
Without your ever-present touch
Remember this for always
I adore you very much.
