LEYLA LOVEBIRD IN LONDON

On Thursday the twenty-third of August 2001,
Leyla Lovebird flew over to London from southern Texas
And made her love nest somewhere in Hampstead Heath.
On Monday the twenty-seventh of August 2001,
Her poet cooked rabbit with lentils for her.
After dinner they had Turkish coffee.
While he was lying down on a Turkish carpet,
She played her two hundred and thirty-one-year-old violin for him.
After playing the violin, she said,
“My beloved poet,
When I play in the key of G
I can see the colour blue.
When I play in the key of C
I can see the colour yellow.
When I play in the key of D
I can see the colour green.
When I play in the key of E
I can see the colour gold.”
He said,
“My dearest Leyla, my true friend,
Whenever you play your violin
And whatever you play on your violin
I can see only the colour pink.”
She asked,
“Pink, is it your favourite colour?”
He answered,
“Pink, it is every man’s favourite colour!”
